Gordon Smith Gallery for Canadian Art scheduled to open in 2012, a 14,000 square foot, purpose built education centre on the former Lonsdale School site at 21st Street and Lonsdale Avenue, will soon house Artists for Kids and the Smith Foundation.

This extraordinary new home will showcase the over 400 original works of art in the AFK collection and will be a major destination for art education on the North Shore and British Columbia.

June 25th, 2010 marked the celebratory ground breaking of the new Education Services Centre and the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art. Members of local and provincial government, trustees and staff of the North Vancouver School District, First Nations leaders and the arts community were all present for the momentous occasion.

An added highlight to the day was the announcement of a $2 million dollar gift from the Audain Foundation to the Smith Foundation in order to support the construction of the new space.
