"The arts as part of a general education have been marginalized in past decades, yet remain such an integral part in the development of children of all ages. As a former teacher, I deplore the lack of resources I see in today's schools. But I applaud what Artists for Kids has been able to do in spite of the current educational climate."

Gordon Smith

THE ARTISTS FOR KIDS TRUST was established in 1989 due to the vision of two North Vancouver educators Ken James and Bill MacDonald, who along with artists Gordon Smith, Bill Reid and Jack Shadbolt felt strongly that the arts held a fundamental role at the center of society and personal growth.

Its mission, through the sale of original prints created by its artist patrons, program fees and generous donations, is to build an art education legacy for the youth of British Columbia.

The Artists For Kids Gallery is home to a stunning collection of over 400 significant works created by its patrons. Artists For Kids provides a variety of art enrichment program opportunities for thousands of students of all ages each year including the popular Paradise Valley Summer School of Visual Art.
